Andrea Yates, Murdered her Children

Andrea Yates, born July 2, 1964, lived in Clear Lake, Texas (a Houston suburb) with her husband and five children. However, happy she was not. She was diagnosed with severe postpartum depression and schizophrenia and had tried to commit suicide at least once before she drowned her children on June 20, 2001, one by one, in the bathtub. There was Noah, 7, John, 5, Paul, 3, Luke, 2, and Mary, 6 months.

Andrea started with John, Paul, and Luke, and then laid them in her bed. Then she drowned Mary and left her floating in the tub. Noah came in, and asked what was wrong with Mary. He then ran, but she soon caught him and drowned him. She left him floating in the tub, and laid Mary in John’s arms in the bed. They had all just been eating breakfast.

She then called the police repeatedly saying she needed an officer, but would not say why. So she called Rusty, and told him to come home right away. After the drownings, she laid each on her bed.

Her husband, Rusty, a former NASA engineer, had left for work, leaving Andrea alone to watch the children – against her physician’s instructions to supervise her around the clock. His mother, Dora Yates, had been scheduled by Rusty to arrive an hour later to take over for Andrea. In the space of that hour, Andrea drowned all five children.

She was convicted of capital murder but has lived in a Texas mental hospital since 2007, when she was declared in court to be not guilty by reason of insanity. This decision outraged much of the public. They could not understand how a mother could kill her own children.

In August 2004, Rusty filed for divorce, stating that he and Yates had not lived together as a married couple since the day of the murders. The divorce was granted on March 17, 2005.

Andrea now is likely living out the rest of her life at the Kerrville State Hospital, a low-security mental health facility in Texas.

I’ve Been a Bad Girl . . . A Poem

Rainy Sunday, Mother’s Day

Mama was at home

I took a shovel from the shed

And cracked her collarbone

Then I used the handle part

to gouge out her right eye

To my surprise it burst inside

then shed upon her cheek

Oh, Mama, silly woman

I told you I’d be back

to stop the strife

to end your life

then stuff you in a sack

Stairs to Nowhere – A Poem

IMG_4289

A quick glance. A pic on my phone. I saw stairs. And then they were gone.

Driving by.  Was saying a prayer. Then I see. Stairs that lead nowhere.

Neither to heaven nor to hell. Just some steps.

Just a pair. Steps that lead to open air.

Is that my fate? Are we all so gullible?

Clinging to what’s not there. Thinking we’re a holy heir?

That day brought clarity. Of the mystery.

Stairs that lead nowhere.

Where IS This Monster?

Where is William Bradford Bishop, Jr?

WHO is William Bradford Bishop Jr?

Mr Bishop is a killer. He “is wanted (by the FBI) for bludgeoning his wife (age 37), mother (age 68), and three sons (ages 5, 10, and 14) in Bethesda, Maryland on March 1, 1976. He then allegedly transported their bodies to Columbia, North Carolina, where he buried the bodies in a shallow grave and lit them on fire.

Now you know who Mr Bishop is.

But WHERE is he these 41 years later? The FBI added him to their top ten fugitives list. THEY would like to know where this man is, too. There is a $100,000 reward for information leading directly to his arrest. He was a US Government Foreign Services Officer in 1976 and speaks English, Italian, French, Serbo-Croatian, and Spanish.

He was 6’1 and was born in Pasadena, California, August 1, 1936.

Have YOU seen him? Is he YOUR neighbor?

Age-progression drawings show what he might look like.

I can’t imagine beating your family to death, burying them, then lighting the grave on fire. This man, if still alive, must be caught. He’s been free for far too long.

There’s a Ghost in my Photograph!

I’ve never believed in spirits or otherworldly things . . . until two days ago. I’ve been on this earth for 53 years and am, for the first time, freaked out by a spiritual matter. My daughter took a selfie from her cell phone of herself and her three kids on Halloween night. The kids weren’t even dressed in costumes. They sat in the car in their other grandma’s driveway off of a country road with little traffic. What showed up on the picture was ghastly and hard to write off as a fake. My daughter, C, said she hadn’t altered the photo at all.

Here it is:

Sitting in my grandson’s lap is an eerie visage of a woman staring back at the camera. Hard to miss, huh? I told you, I’m not one to “look” for these kinds of things. I’m a major skeptic with a degree in science, so this literally kept me from a decent night’s sleep when I received it from C.

What do you think? Do you see it? Do you believe in ghosts? What DO you believe?
