Where IS This Monster?

williambradforbishopjr

Where is William Bradford Bishop, Jr?

WHO is William Bradford Bishop Jr?

Mr Bishop is a killer. He “is wanted (by the FBI) for bludgeoning his wife (age 37), mother (age 68), and three sons (ages 5, 10, and 14) in Bethesda, Maryland on March 1, 1976. He then allegedly transported their bodies to Columbia, North Carolina, where he buried the bodies in a shallow grave and lit them on fire.

Now you know who Mr Bishop is.

But WHERE is he these 41 years later? The FBI added him to their top ten fugitives list. THEY would like to know where this man is, too. There is a $100,000 reward for information leading directly to his arrest. He was a US Government Foreign Services Officer in 1976 and speaks English, Italian, French, Serbo-Croatian, and Spanish.

He was 6’1 and was born in Pasadena, California, August 1, 1936.

Have YOU seen him? Is he YOUR neighbor?

Age-progression drawings show what he might look like.

I can’t imagine beating your family to death, burying them, then lighting the grave on fire. This man, if still alive, must be caught. He’s been free for far too long.

There’s a Ghost in my Photograph!

I’ve never believed in spirits or otherworldly things . . . until two days ago. I’ve been on this earth for 53 years and am, for the first time, freaked out by a spiritual matter. My daughter took a selfie from her cell phone of herself and her three kids on Halloween night. The kids weren’t even dressed in costumes. They sat in the car in their other grandma’s driveway off of a country road with little traffic. What showed up on the picture was ghastly and hard to write off as a fake. My daughter, C, said she hadn’t altered the photo at all.

Here it is:

IMG_3116

Sitting in my grandson’s lap is an eerie visage of a woman staring back at the camera. Hard to miss, huh? I told you, I’m not one to “look” for these kinds of things. I’m a major skeptic with a degree in science, so this literally kept me from a decent night’s sleep when I received it from C.

What do you think? Do you see it? Do you believe in ghosts? What DO you believe?

Why Do People Lie and Cheat?

lying2

I don’t get it. Why do adults cheat when there isn’t real reason to? Example: I play bingo at a local community spot once a week. One older woman uses cards from weeks past that didn’t have wins . . . and she uses them in present weeks to “improve” her chances at winning a bingo. We noticed her playing extra cards with ink already on them, and we were told by those sitting next to her that she does this but when confronted, she merely became frustrated and threw away her current game.

I ask you, why does she do this (or try to) week after week? She isn’t destitute. She has a car and plenty of food. So, why lie and cheat? She knows better or she wouldn’t have to hide her actions.

cheating5

The winnings are paid from the  nonprofit company’s cash drawer that holds the other players’ game money. They paid for their games for the present night and aren’t lying or cheating but “Ethyl” is. She’s cheating the nonprofit out of funds that could be used to help people in real need, and she’s cheating her fellow bingo players who might have a chance to bingo the HONEST way. Ugh! Makes me angry.

cheating4

The leader of the nonprofit told her he knew about her antics and to stop them or she would not be welcome back to our bingo games . . . then low and behold, he caught her “saving” already-played games for future nights. He made her throw away her current cards as she used them.

It’s like babysitting an unethical kid. I suggested we kick her out weeks back but the leaders are trying to give her a chance to shape up. Yeah, right.

Liars and cheaters really tick me off.

lying4

There’s nothing innocent about it. Nothing cute about it. And nothing “ok” about it. Ethyl, stop it!

I need to hang around with my real friends – ones who are ethical, honest, and play fairly. I think I’ll do a little reading from a book by the Dalai Lama about treating other creatures with respect and care.

Wish me luck. LOL.

Haunted House Trip Made Us Cry

IMG_2894

Hi guys! Here’s me in a quickie costume. My bestie and I went to a MAJOR scary haunted bus tour then onto a haunted house.

Here we are before the trip:

IMG_2902

We are one happy pair, eh? Here is a pic of us with a frighteningly real girl who had her mouth sewn almost closed. (shiver)

IMG_2903

Fun night but Becca and I wound up crying in her driveway at the end of the night. Why? Because we were belly-laughing at goofy crap we had seen that night and how we reacted to it all. From my driving to her screaming, “Shit!” when a monster lunged at her (in front of eight 10-year olds) . . . we had a ball.

Suggestion – do something fun with a best friend. It changes your whole week. Love y’all~

How Clean is “Clean?”

derm1

What tiny creatures lurk on your face? Even your cleanly washed face?

Demodex Mites!

According to Lucy Jones with BBC, “They are microscopic mites, eight-legged creatures rather like spiders. Almost every human being has them. They spend their entire lives on our faces, where they eat, mate and finally die.”

Want to see more pics? I thought you might. Here are the arthropods:

derm2

Cute little guys, eh? (shiver!)

These mites live in your pores, hair follicles, and sebaceous glands. What’s even more exciting to learn is that they also may live in out genital areas and on our breasts. I’ll never feel clean again.

There are about two mites per eyelash on your lovely eyes. Want to see another pic? I knew you would.

derm3

So, what do these crab-like critters actually “do?”

Ms. Jones suggests, “Some people think they eat the bacteria that are associated with the skin . . . Some think they eat the dead skin cells. Some think they’re eating the oil from the sebaceous gland.”

Nice, any one of these gives me the creeps but it’s nature. It’s our miraculous bodies.

How do the mites reproduce? We aren’t sure of that, either. Other types of mites even resort to cannibalism but it’s not been shown in the Demodex.

Lucy Jones also states, “They’ve never been known to eat one another,” says Thoemmes. “It appears that they come out at night to mate and then go back to their pores.”

Ugh.

The mites lay a few large eggs around the base of a pore – but these guys don’t “go to the bathroom.” They have no anuses. So, it’s thought that they save it all up in their bodies until they die or explode on our faces.

(Don’t you just love this blog?)

It has been stated that there is a link between Rosacea and the Demodex Mite. People with Rosacea have more mites per square centimeter than people without Rosacea. But rather than causing the skin condition, it’s thought that it’s not the Demodex who start the process but are merely present in skin that is of older adults or that has been exposed to extreme weather. Less oil means easier skin irritation.

See photo of a more severe case of Rosacea below:

derm4

Demodex have also been shown to be more prevalent in people with compromised immune systems, as in AIDS or cancer patients.

Can you get rid of these mites? Would you want to? They actually may be eating bacteria and dead skin cells, which isn’t a negative. Even if you did rid your face of these, Jones says, “It looks as if there is something special on our faces that they need. Even if you kill them off, you’re going to get them again, because they’re everywhere and they want to be on your face.”

Our bodies are teeming with microorganisms. 90% of our cells are made up of them. So, Ms. Jones is accurate in saying, “There is a simple lesson here. You are not just you; you are a walking, talking community, an entire ecosystem held within one body.”

Now, how clean is “clean?”

What I Know is Nothing

fus_brand_seasons_tree2

When I look up and into the sky blue sky

full of fluffy white fluffy clouds

Space is full of stuff – stuffed stuff or unstuffed

Beyond the blue and white above me are other planets, other skies, other guys

Naked, I shiver in the hot summer afternoon – but it’s a dry heat

In a coat, I shiver among snow drifts – but it’s a moist cool

Above my head are twinkling stars that twinkle like a star

Vastness of universe and limitations of my body and mind – not parallel like a parallel universe

What I know for sure is that I know nothing – like I know what I know, and it’s nothing

A Climate Tax on Red Meat? One Country is Trying To Do It!

cattle

http://www.onegreenplanet.org/news/a-climate-tax-on-red-meat-one-country-is-trying-to-do-it/

This is a re-blog of a very information-filled article on http://www.onegreenplanet.org. Please take a read. Link above is to the original article.

While countries around the world have started setting up regulations for major companies contributing to greenhouse emissions and in turn, climate change, this week, the Danish government voted to take a different approach. Instead of trying to tackle the monumental climate change crisis solely by collaborating with major industry players, the Danish Council of Ethics, an independent body that advises parliament, ministers and other public authorities on ethical issues, has proposed a “climate tax” on products with the greatest negative impact on the environment, namely meat.

As we saw last month when the Netherlands recommended a lower meat intake, the Danish Agriculture and Food Council is not happy about this proposal. More surprisingly, not every politician in Parliament is gung-ho about the idea either, with one going as far as to say, ”Maybe [the tax] would get beef consumption to fall in Denmark, but it wouldn’t do much of anything for the world’s CO2 emissions.”

We, respectfully, disagree. And considering 14 of the 16 members of the council support the tax, we’d say we are not alone. Animal agriculture is responsible for 18 percent of allgreenhouse gas emissions, more than the total exhaust from all forms of transportation worldwide. So, to remark that the world’s CO2 emissions would not be changed at all from less meat consumption is not only ridiculous, it’s downright irresponsible.

As proponents of the tax stated, the Danish people are, of course, responsible for making climate-friendly choices on their own. However, after six months of deliberation the Council felt it was imperative to push people in the right direction. They hope to extend this tax on other products with a negative impact, but felt that starting with meat would be the smartest move considering its immensely destructive environmental impact.

When we look at how the meat industry and government have worked together in the past, this Danish approach makes total sense, in fact the US could learn a thing or two from Denmark. After all, the animal agriculture industry and the US government have been in cahoots for years now, we can’t expect them to lead the change. Look at government subsidies for example. Despite the fact that meat consumption has come down by a thirdsince the 1970s,  the US government hands out $38.4 billion a year to ensure that people have an easy time entering the industry, and that production continues to grow. Nice work, lobbyists. The worse part about this system is that these hand-outs aren’t coming from the pockets of government officials. If only! The government actually takes tax dollars from its citizens to pay off the very industry that is destroying the planet. If you’re trying to figure out how that makes sense, we’ll save you the time, it doesn’t.

While we can’t deny that the US government has begun to make strides in addressing climate change, the destruction will become unmanageable if we continue at this snail’s pace. Although this new Danish tax hasn’t been set into motion yet, the US government should definitely consider implementing a similar law. After all, the first way we should be fighting climate change is with our forks, a connection our government needs to make, and soon.

Japan – A Disaster Waiting to Happen

I’ve blogged a few times about the Fukushima Nuclear Plant’s fallout and the water and land damage it caused. It was due to a 9.0 earthquake named Tohoku and its following tsunami on March 11 of 2011. See the link below for that blog:

https://everydayclimb.wordpress.com/2013/04/13/remember-the-2011-japanese-earthquake-fukushima-nuclear-plants-meltdown/

tsunami2011B

The blog also stated that Japan is ripe for another large earthquake, possibly in or near Tokyo. See the article I read today below:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/strong-quake-hits-japan-tsunami-warning-issued-170923403.html?ref=gs

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake hit Tokyo.

Friends, the earth is a powerful entity. We don’t control it. We don’t manage it. It behaves as it behaves. Enjoy your days here. Love your family and laugh with friends. Make a difference in people’s lives for the better. It’s a fleeting existence. Make it a full one.

Sadness Has Shades – A Poem

colors2

A painter uses color, texture -tangibles – to express herself.

I use words. My mind purges its stresses on white pages.

I sometimes think in gray.

Cloudy skies are the shade of sadness.

Sadness has shades, if you didn’t know it.

I’ve had sadness in blue shades. Blue, more intense than gray.

Gray has no passion, is sleepy and without great expression.

Blues offer bite. When dark, it’s angry sadness.

Light blue leaves room for improvement. Hope.

Black. Ever felt black?

Absorbing all light around you. Reflecting none.

Lack of light is black. I’ve felt black. I’ve lived black.

Black was the height of sadness, and all was dark.

Are you beige? Beige is boring. Not ugly but boring.

I lived beige for several years. It was a color of denial.

Same old. Same old. Beige. Sad but denying it.

Currently, I feel green. New growth is everywhere.

Soon it will be spring. Life has changed.

Green feels nice. Cooling and hopeful.

No sadness blankets this life.

But now and then, I do have other-color days.

Life is, after all,  a rainbow of colors.

Sadness can be in many colors and shades

But joy can, too.

Boxes, Cat Poo, & Sore Thighs

moving_boxes

Hello Friends! We’ve finally moved into the new house! The U-verse guy came this morning to hook up the TVs and internet. Friday, the fireplace man installs a full new gas fireplace with remote control. I’ve unpacked 3/4 of the kitchen boxes, and I can shower without drying my body with a hand towel.

The cats have settled in fairly well. Skittish Henry still hides a bit but will live. The birds are already feasting at the feeder on the back deck with Rigby (other cat) watching intently at the patio doors, tail swishing back and forth. He wants to pounce so badly.

Dave is watching One America News. Hilary and Bernie are hashing the same old crap. Baby Dixie (kitten) is napping in her cat tree, stretched out and happy to have been found by her rescue parents. I do believe we’re happy here. I sure am. I sit at the little round dining table with tulips centerpiece. Bright light streams in because it snowed a bit last night, and the sun reflects from it. My coffee is strong and hot. I’m still losing weight each week and feeling better and better since being off the hormone cream Dr #1 had given me (that’s a whole other blog idea).

I’m a newlywed (4 months) and am blessed to have had two wonderful men in my life. Also two wonderful extended families. My current two step children, Crystal and Davy, are delights. My two kids, Sarah and Ben are my heart. I have smart, funny, cute grand babies who make my life fuller. I have a best friend, Leslie, whom I know will be by my side for anything.

There is one negative; the cat box contains “Yesterday’s News” litter. It’s tightly bound paper that is shaped into pellets. There is no real odor control and no clumping. It’s because baby Dixie has been declawed and needs it for a few days. So, the smell near that bedroom is not always pleasant if I haven’t caught it in time. LOL

Well, it’s time to unpack some more. I’m sore in my legs and lower back but I carry on so I get these boxes emptied.  It feels good to be happy again after 7 years of depression, worries, and emotional abuse from a loser boyfriend (no, not my current spouse). 😉 Have a good week, folks, and stay warm! Love to you all ~
