It’s my birthday. Well, in 3 minutes, it will be. This is the first birthday I have ever spent home alone and probably on the bed or the sofa. 48 years old.
Negativity emanates from my pores, but I try hard to keep my family and friends from seeing all of it.
Well, 2 more minutes.
I have wonderful family and friends who check on me, talk with me, and tell me they love me. That support system is a blessing.
1 more minute.
I type as my special day arrives. It seems only fitting. Writing is the one way I can fully express myself. Thank god for writing.
Happy Birthday to me. It’s midnight. I was actually born at 12:01, so in one minute, I’ll be 48. Good-bye 47, it’s been hell.
Depression affects almost 10% of Americans. That is one out of every ten people you may see in a room at any given time. Seems like a lot.
Oh, I’m officially 48 now. No streamers, phone calls, balloons, or music?
What I do have are these:
a loving boyfriend, healthy and loving children, new grandbabies, sweet parents, …………..that’s all I can really think of.
Whew. It’s 12:03. Some of the pressure’s off. I wish it were March 30th and that this day were already over. Such pressures on the birthday.
I want some positive thoughts in my head. Let’s share some here!
Soft clean sheets
Santas with real beards
The smell and sound of campfire
Finally taking your bra off after a long day
The other side of the pillow
The smell of freshly cut grass
Fireflies at night ON that freshly cut grass
Paper towels instead of wall-mounted hand dryers in a public restroom
The sound of rain when you are inside a tent
Putting potato chips on a sandwich
Dangling your feet in water
The smell of new Play-Doh
Laughing so hard you start crying
When your pet notices you’re in a bad mood and comes to see you
Looking up while under water
Little kids showing their muscles
Staring into a fire
When you reach that point in a book where you just can’t stop reading
When insects are struggling to do something and you help them
When you hear someone’s smile over the phone
The core of a cinnamon roll
Gutsy city animals
Seeing a big dog sitting in the driver’s seat of a parked car
Sweet cornbread with brown beans
Now, with nice thoughts, I’m off to sleep away the first several hours of my birthday. 😉
